Student tickets for the Peyton Manning Face to Face event on Weds. (9/11)
Some families had asked me about how their students can get in to see our Peyton Manning Face to Face event, as there is not a student-only event. Here is what my Face to Face colleagues tell me:
“Students can register for free tickets by visiting this website.
Here is how students can claim their ticket:
- Visit facetoface.wfu.edu/registration
- Click on the link “Click here to claim your complimentary ticket”
- You will be promoted to sign in or create a Ticketmaster Account. You must either sign in using your @wfu.edu email address or create a new account using your @wfu.edu to access tickets.
- You can select your ticket after logging in or setting up your account. Students are limited to only one ticket.
- After selecting your ticket, click on the cart and the ticket will be added to your AccountManager. You can then transfer the ticket to your mobile wallet.”
Apparently this process has been posted around campus, on social media, and in various communications – but in case your Deacs missed it, want to be sure they have that information.
Third Culture Kids (TCK) event Tuesday (9/10)
My colleagues in Global Programs and Studies have been doing a lot of work with “Third Culture Kids,” and they want to invite them to a series of events to connect them to each other:
“Third Culture Kids (TCKs) – Does your student find it challenging to answer the question “Where are you from?” Are they a U.S. citizen/Permanent Resident who grew up abroad, moved around the world due to a parent’s career, or were raised within a multi-cultural or immigrant family?
If so, the Center for Global Programs & Studies (GPS) invites them to a casual drop-in dinner with other TCKs on Tuesday, September 10 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. in Reynolda Hall 116.
Dinners will be held monthly; to stay up-to-date, students should follow @tckwfu on Instagram or sign up for the TCK GroupMe. Family members with questions may contact Sandra Lisle McMullen at mcmullsl@wfu.edu or +1.336.758.4889.
Presidential Debate watch party (9/10)
Encouraging civic engagement is something we pride ourselves on at Wake Forest. My standard party line for students is that I would never tell you who to vote for – that’s for you to investigate and explore – but I will always tell you to vote. And there is an event tomorrow that your students might want to engage in with Deacs Decide:
“Join Deacs Decide on Tuesday, September 10 in Zick’s Underground to watch the 2024 Presidential Debate featuring GOP candidate, former President Donald J. Trump and DNC candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris. Come and get comfortable and enjoy some food starting at 8:30 PM, the debate will start at 9:00 PM.”
Climb to Remember (Weds. 9/11)
Each year on the anniversary of 9/11, our ROTC hosts a very meaningful remembrance:
“Wake Forest ROTC ‘No Fear’ Battalion is sponsoring its annual “Climb to Remember” in remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 a.m. at Wake Forest’s Allegacy Stadium on Deacon Blvd. in Winston-Salem.
ROTC cadets from Wake Forest and Winston-Salem State universities and Salem College will join with community volunteers and first responders to honor victims of the attack….
Participants climb one stair for each life lost. Each section is clearly marked and water stations are available. No registration is required.”
Homecoming is this weekend
For all our alumni parents and families in the Daily Deacdom, this weekend is Homecoming! You can see all the scheduled events.
In addition, if you are in a reunion year (i.e., classes ending in 4s and 9s), there will be special reunion class events for you.
P’28s: Letters So Dear for your students, Weekly Message for P’28s
Every Monday, we have a Letters So Dear for ’28 students and a Weekly Message for P’28 families. This week’s message for P’28s is about navigating residential life.
