Tonight is our home opener in football, where we play NC A&T. If you are a parent or family member planning to go to the game tonight, here is your know-before-you-go briefing of what to expect, such as our clear bag policy. It promises to be a great night!

In other happy news, it won’t happen until next week, but cooler temperatures are on the horizon! The 10 day forecast looks promising starting next Monday. Sure, there may be some rain, but I will gladly take temps in the 70s. The real question is will this be Actual Fall or False Fall..?

the 13 seasons of NC. Right now we are in False Fall, but Second Summer will be right around the corner.

Now to some other things we want you to know on this fine Thursday.

Wake Forest plans significant investment in academic and student spaces over next 7 years

There is some very exciting news today that I wanted to share:

“This year, Wake Forest will take action on its near-term Reynolda Campus space plan as part of a holistic strategy to renew academic and student support spaces. The plan aims to create 35 percent more academic space and 50 percent more student gathering and dining space, including 60 more offices, 20 more specialized teaching and research spaces, and more collaborative gathering space to support the College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, the plan will right-size existing classrooms, labs and offices in the buildings targeted by the plan.

Steps on the first proposed project in the plan are anticipated to begin this semester, transforming Alumni Hall from an administrative office building into an academic building.” Find out more about these transformational initiatives.

This is an incredibly exciting time to be a Deac, and I anticipate a lot of news as this project unfolds. More info as I have it!

Wake the Demons and New Deac Week photostories

I did not make it to campus last night to see our Wake the Demons pep rally in person, but I did keep an eye on it via the Quad Cam. Even without sound via a long distance webcam, it looked like a lot of fun. Happily, our amazing photographer, Lyndsie Schlink, was there to capture all the magic and she has published this photostory that I hope you will enjoy.

Somehow it looks like I missed sharing the New Deac Week photostory, so am adding that in today as well.

And especially for our P’28s for whom this might be a new concept, if you want to subscribe to Lyndsie’s photostories and get notified in your Inbox when a new one is published, you can subscribe here.
