- Virtual New Student Reception recording
- Photostory on our baseball team’s return to town
- Good luck to our Summer Session I students taking finals
- Eid al-Adha
Happy Humpday, Deac families – it’s midweek, and it’s a warm one here: high of 87, and it felt plenty humid to me when I was walking across campus this morning. Today I have a few things for y’all:
Virtual New Student Reception recording
Last night we had our first of two Virtual New Student Receptions for incoming students and families. For those of you who were not able to attend, you can watch it here. You can turn on the Closed Captioning option in YouTube if needed (my apologies for my shaky movements during my section. My big dog was big time barking and I was trying to flee to a quieter part of my house.)
My colleagues provided a lot of terrific information about academic advising and registration, the residential experience and housing, getting involved on campus, attending to your wellbeing, and then we had a great panel of current students who offered their best tips and advice.
Some families asked me during the event if the July 17 Virtual New Student Reception covers the same material as last night, and it does. So you don’t need to attend both – though of course we welcome you if you want an encore 🙂
Photostory on our baseball team’s return to town
We continue riding high on the wave of pride and love in our baseball team’s incredible season. There was a huge crowd to see them off to Omaha, and another huge crowd to greet them at their return. The Winston-Salem Journal ran a lovely photostory on their return, which you can see here.
Many thanks again to our team and our coaches for giving us all such a wonderful post-season. We watch a lot of baseball in my house, and my umpire husband says this is some of the best baseball the College World Series has ever seen. And that’s something to celebrate. Go Deacs!
Good luck to our Summer Session I students taking finals
For our students in Summer Session I, they are taking their finals today and tomorrow. We wish them all the best as they conclude their summer coursework. Crush those finals!
For our students taking Summer Session II, check in to residence halls is July 5 and then Summer II runs July 6-August 11. You can see the Summer Session calendar here.
Eid al-Adha
As we close today, I want to recognize our Muslim families who might be observing Eid al-Adha: Eid Mubarak! Wishing you a joyous and blessed Eid al-Adha with lots of laughter, joy, and good health!
