Last night, a Campus Safety Advisory was shared with the WFU community; you can read it here. For context, campus safety advisories are issued when there is an ongoing (but not immediate) threat so that community members can use that knowledge to protect themselves.

In addition to the specifics of this particular incident, there are two important ongoing takeaways here for your students – and please stress this with them:

  1. If they see something concerning or suspicious, report it promptly to WFU Police Department (336-758-5911 if it is the type of situation where you would call 911; for non-emergency situations, call 336-758-5591). The LiveSafe app also provides a quick and easy way for students to report an incident or emergency.
  1. Do not assume that someone else may have reported suspicious activity, or that by posting on social media or sharing information with family, friends, or a student organization group chat/text/email will make WFU Police Department aware of the situation. You should contact WFUPD directly to report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.

Be assured that when a member of the campus community reports an activity or situation that seems concerning, the officer responding and WFUPD will investigate and determine if an advisory is necessary. The safety and well-being of our community always come first.

I saw a couple of Tweets today that are worth sharing. Congratulations to our men’s cross country team, who won the ACC Championship. Go Deacs! 2022 ACC Championship Cross Country team

I also saw this on our official WFU Twitter, and thought you might enjoy it too: spend one minute of your afternoon taking a drive through Wake Forest among the beautiful fall trees.

Have a great weekend, Deac families!
