Today I want to share a few resources your Deacs may want to know about that will help them grow much-needed skills.
At the start of the year, before things get too busy, it may be a good time for your Deacs to think about their financial wellness. Wake Forest has partnered with iGrad to provide a suite of tools to help our campus community’s financial wellbeing.
We encourage all students to access iGrad and review the relevant modules. The iGrad tool begins with a checkup process and then recommends content for your student based on their answers. Having it as a self-paced, online offering means that students can access this any time, as opposed to having a ‘class’ on campus that might conflict with their normal schedule. I encourage students to devote one hour a month to going through iGrad and learning all they can – whether they are first-years or seniors.
I also recently learned about Power Up: Super (Power) Skills for Your Life + Career. Have you heard of the term “Power Skills”? These are the key skills that give your students the power to communicate, lead, and collaborate more effectively both in college and once they enter the world of work.
Each month this fall, the Mentoring Resource Center will be sharing tips and resources for how students can develop their COREFour Mentoring Power Skills and put them into practice. Encourage your student to create a Handshake profile in order to receive the OPCD’s weekly emails, which is where students can learn about Power Skills plus get access to webinars, action items, best practice guides, and other campus resources.
