I’ve got three main topics for you today, Daily Deacers: the Student Health Insurance requirement, construction of the Davis Field road, and this week’s emails to P’26s and ’26s.

First things first: I got a message from my friends in the Student Health Service last week saying that they had been getting a lot of calls from families wanting to talk about the Student Health Insurance requirement and the waiver process. Our Student Health Service does not work with the student health insurance program, so we ask that families not call Student Health. Instead, please contact the Student Insurance program, as that is their area of expertise. You can find their email and phone number on their website; look at the Contact section as well as the footer at the bottom of the page.

Over the weekend, I happened to be on campus and managed to take a few pictures of the Davis Field Road construction. There was a gap in the fence at the top of the field closest to the Quad, and I managed to capture the view looking down the field.

Then when we were leaving campus, we stopped about halfway up the hill closest to the Byrum Welcome Center and got a better shot of the Davis Field Road as you’ll see it from the Reynolda Road/Silas Creek Parkway entrance.

It might be hard to imagine how it will look, given all the gravel, red clay, and construction fencing. My hunch is that restoring the original symmetry of the campus is going to be beautiful.

It’s the start of a new week, which means we sent a new Weekly Message for Incoming Families out to our P’26s. You can read today’s message here, or view the archive for all past messages. Incoming ’26s and transfer students got this message about New Deac 101, their mandatory orientation course.
