Feeling hot, hot, hot
There’s no way around it, Daily Deacdom: it is hot this week.
For those of you not familiar with the “12 Seasons of NC” meme, this week is officially Hell’s Front Porch 🙂
When it is hot like this, your Deacs will want to be sure to drink a lot of water, stay out of too much midday sun, and think about doing their walking/jogging in the early morning or early evening hours when it is a bit cooler.
Speaking of the warm weather, after moving in your student in the August heat, you may be actively searching for ways to avoid doing it again 🙂 Storage Scholars is an official moving and storage partner of Wake Forest. It was founded by students and has operated on campus since 2017. They provided the following information for families about how their service works:
Storage Scholars distributes packing supplies on campus for FREE.
Students using the service pack everything up, upload photos of their items to their account, lock it in their room, and go home!
Once final exams end and campus is vacant, student employees arrive to pick up the items and move them into an insured, temperature-controlled storage facility near campus.
When your student returns to school, their belongings will be ready and waiting for them in their new room.
You can learn more on our website. Storage Scholars is currently offering families an additional $50 in credit towards services if they sign up in the month of August!
If your Deac is looking for hotspots, there is a new Wake Escape Shuttle, which runs to popular entertaining and dining spots in Winston-Salem near the Hanes Mall area. It runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 pm to 1 am. Your Deacs can get details on the Corq app, which was mentioned in yesterday’s post.
For any of our P’25s, while your Deacs were using the New Deac Welcome Week guide/app to see all Orientation-related activities, that app is not updated beyond Orientation, so the Corq app and The Link are definitely the places your Deacs want to look for events. They can (and should!) also follow the social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) of any academic departments, campus offices, or student organizations they are interested in.
If you want to relive the experiences you and your Deacs just had, we have videos of Move-In and FDOC.
