We’re closing out the week, and close to closing out the month. Countdown to finals is T minus 15 days, hard as that is to believe.
There are a few items to share today. Did you know that Wake Forest is frequently in the news? Our University news team produces a quarterly virtual newspaper showcasing selected media highlights including national, regional and local coverage of faculty research and expertise. The piece also includes an “Around Campus” feature spread. The January – April 2021 issue is available here. This really is a great piece. While I try to bring some of the news to the Daily Deac, there are so many stories that I can’t catch them all. Hope you will enjoy this publication.
Two things for our P’21 families: first, your Deacs should know that the Office of Alumni Engagement is offering in-person and virtual sessions of our Out of the Forest presentation and conversation. During this discussion, they’ll talk about the amazing services, programs, and events that ’21s can look forward to participating in as an alumnus/a. They will also review WAKECommunities, affinity groups, Loyal DEAC, the Alumni Personal and Career Development Center, and more. Urge your ’21s to take advantage.
Also on the ’21 theme, some of you had asked me what the Senior So Dear event is during Commencement weekend. The Office of Alumni Engagement hosts Senior So Dear, which is an informal, drop-in opportunity coinciding with cap and gown pick-up at the University Bookstore on Hearn Plaza. They will have stations available for graduating seniors to pick up a gift exclusive to their class, to introduce students to WakeNetwork, and to build a map of where the Class of 2021 is heading after Commencement. Staff members will be available to talk about programs and offerings that our newest class of alumni can look forward to. Note that the senior gift can only be picked up at Senior So Dear, so tell your Deacs to swing by.
Late yesterday students received their weekly copy of Your Corona Chronicle. We also sent a message to all incoming P’25 families and shared information about what will be coming via the New Students website starting May 3rd, and also a look ahead to move-in and fall dates. P’25s can read that message here.
We’ve been unseasonably cool this week – high 50s and low 60s – and tomorrow is a 99% chance of rain, but it looks like we’ll be in mid-70s to low 80s next week. Here’s a few shots from the archive to remind you how beautiful Mother So Dear is in the spring 🙂
