The Christmas Lovefeast was last night, and I hope that folks who were interested had a chance to join in at home. It definitely looked different, but the spirit of the event could not be dimmed by COVID. You can watch the service here. Final exams begin today, so we are bringing you a Finals Meme of the Day every day this week, because laughter is the best medicine.

Types of students during finals: Hermione, Ron, and Harry Potter

We’re also bringing you a Picture of the Day so you can see some of the views of campus from finals weeks past. The picture below is of the Exam Fairies – members of the University Counseling Center. The Exam Fairies dress up with tutus and magic wands during exams and deliver candy, pizzas, and other treats to students in the library and other parts of campus where students were studying. Having some unexpected whimsy and kindness during finals prep helps brighten students’ days. I look forward to the time post-COVID to see the Exam Fairies again 🙂

Even though your students are gone, we are still sending them Your Corona Chronicle over break. You can read this past Thursday’s issue here. The Call Center (336.758.7500) is working modified hours through 12/23; we will be working 10 am-2 pm Eastern, and then we will close 12/24-January 3 (when the University is closed). In the [I hope very unlikely] event that you have an urgent need that cannot wait during our closure, see our After Hours page.

As you have no doubt noticed, our push-service has had some issues sending out the Daily Deac in the normal 5-7 pm timeframe. I am going to play with an earlier start time this week in hopes that might fix our issues. Thank you for your patience.
