I am going to be assisting with move-in and Pre-Orientation welcome events much of today, so this is a pre-post
As our students – particularly our newest ’30s and transfer students – move in, one of the keys to helping them acclimate to campus life is by getting them meaningfully involved in the life of the university. For many students, that comes from engagement in student organizations, events, and activities.
Today I want to a few items related to move in, as well as share some avenues to involvement that can help our students find ways to connect to each other through shared interests. Many thanks to my colleagues within Campus Life for sharing these write up.

Yesterday I shared an item about a new course series for AI fluency called the AI Clinic. Unfortunately I incorrectly shared an old link. Here is the correct link. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Reminder to P’30s/’30s moving in on Tuesday 8/18: students must have their QR code before they can join the car line to check in
University Police asked me to remind our P’30s/’30s checking in at the LJVM Coliseum on Tuesday 8/18 that if you arrive at the LJVM before your student has their QR code to check in, you will be asked to wait in a designated parking area until your student’s QR code is available. Certainly if you arrive early and want to wait in the lot, that is fine, but just be aware that students cannot check in until they have their code. Thank you!
Update for families with students who moved in for Pre-Orientation but families are returning on Tuesday 8/18 with additional belongings
I have gotten questions from some Pre-Orientation families about how they will get a parking pass to return to campus on Tuesday 8/18. Today I got an update on this process:
“Anyone who has already checked in can now download their own parking pass at go.wfu.edu/moveinstatus. This will allow students to send their parents a pass if needed for Tuesday (if they lose their parking pass from yesterday or today).”
Important note: your student must be available to meet their family and unlock their building/room when the family returns on the 18th.

Fall Student Involvement Fair
On Thursday Aug. 27th, the Office of Student Engagement will be hosting the Fall Student Involvement Fair on Poteat Field, from 3-6 p.m. (note: students should be logged in to their WFU email to access this link). Students will get the opportunity to hear from our 150+ registered student organizations, student led initiatives, and Fraternity and Sorority Engagement organizations.
Whether your student is searching for a community through a religious or spiritual organization, social fraternity or sorority, or a service organization, the Involvement Fair is an opportunity to see what is available at Wake. Help your Deacon find their place by encouraging them to attend the Involvement Fair! To prepare for the Involvement Fair, encourage your student to use the Link to search organizations they want to visit at the fair. The fair can be overwhelming, so having a list of 3-5 student organizations that they want to seek out can help them have a plan on the day of.

All organizations on campus have a page on the Link, allowing students to see campus-wide event calendars, search organizations and events by interest, and more! If your student isn’t sure about how to find community, the Link is a great place to start. Your student can visit the Link at https://thelink.wfu.edu/.
