I don’t want to alarm anyone, but Commencement is in FIVE DAYS!!!!!!!! I know our ’26s and their proud P’26s and family members can’t wait. We are all very busy getting ready for Commencement, so again this will be a brief Daily Deac. But first, here is the view of Commencement prep from the Quad Cam, as of 1:30 today.

Mother So Dear, you are looking good!

Honors and Awards Ceremony program

I mentioned a week or so ago that one of the events of Commencement Weekend is the Honors and Awards Ceremony. The program is now online, so families and students can see who is being honored.

Even if your Deac is not an honoree, they might know someone who is, and it would be wonderful to show up for their friends. View the program.

New views of construction

One of my colleagues sent our team a picture of a new view of the construction taking place over at The Grounds, right by our football stadium. The Grounds is our new entertainment and residential complex, and it is a really exciting development for Winston-Salem.

Here is the picture:

And here it is with some labels to help orient you to what is what:

Creekside – our affiliate student housing – is coming along really well. The office building you see at the bottom right is where non-student facing administrative units will be housed (including the team I work for). Not yet pictured is the retail village, but my understanding is it will be in that long strip of land between the office building and Creekside.

This article in The Athletic, How mixed-use stadium districts — for work, play and football — became college sports’ latest craze, mentions The Grounds and is worth a read.

Go Deacs!
