The Life of a Teacher-Scholar
In this Issue: the Life of a Teacher-Scholar
I am out of the office today, so this is a pre-post
Dr. Nelly van Doorn-Harder – Professor of Religious Studies, Co-Director of the Middle East and South Asia Studies program, and Kenan Professor of Humanities – embodies the Pro Humanitate spirit in her research and teaching.
Watch this short documentary, The Life of a Teacher-Scholar, to learn more about how our faculty bridge scholarship and community. The video is only 7 minutes, but it gives you a really good look behind the curtain of how great faculty approach their students, their teaching, and their responsibility to our campus and the larger community. And she does this in ways that go beyond just lecturing: her classes include hands-on creative work, she helps with dinners where students can not just build community but actually help prepare the food.
It’s another extraordinary example of the caliber of teacher-scholars we have at Wake. I hope you enjoy the short video as much as I did.
