Quiet Campus
In this Issue:
- Final grades visibility
- Onboarding tasks coming in early January
Campus feels quiet and empty without our students. The vast majority of our student body checked out yesterday by 2 p.m., which definitely changes the vibe.
For the students that left yesterday, it was brutally, brutally cold and very windy. Like low of 15 cold, like leave your taps on at night so your pipes don’t freeze cold. I am glad most our students missed that, because it was not fun.
As for what is happening here, faculty are finishing up grading their final exams, papers, and projects. Staff are working to wrap up what they need to finish before the winter break, and many of us are taking PTO in advance of the official holiday. Things are slowing down.
And as such, I just have two quick hit items for you today:
Final grades visibility
Fall semester grades for undergraduate students should be visible in Workday by Wednesday, Dec. 17, at noon.
As a reminder, students control access to who can see their grades. If your student wishes to give you access to grades, they can follow the directions in this jobaid. Students may have to be logged in with their WFU account to see the jobaid.
Onboarding tasks coming in early January
Although it will be tempting for our students to check out completely and not look at their WFU email over break, we do still need them to take a look from time to time. One important item will be coming in early January:
“Onboarding tasks for all continuing students (i.e., students who are not newly starting at Wake Forest in the Spring semester) will be available in Workday inboxes on Monday, Jan. 5. These important tasks must be completed before modifications to registration for spring or registration for summer or fall will be permitted.”
And on a personal note, because I have spent most of my professional career in higher education, my thoughts have been focused on the horrific shooting at Brown University over the weekend. There are no words big enough for this sort of tragedy. Please join me in sending wishes for healing and support to all the impacted families, students, and the whole campus community at Brown.
