I suspect many of our students have already made the trip home for Thanksgiving – and if yours is already home, please let them sleep in, cook their favorite meals, and shower them in TLC. College is a lot of mental work and it is wonderful when our students can relax and recharge their batteries for a few days.

I’ve received requests from many colleagues to help share info on upcoming opportunities in their areas, so will try to knock a lot of those out today. Take what you need, scroll past what you don’t :)

  • Be compensated for your time

Benefits:

  • Early Move-In Date in August 2026 for Residential Students

Interested students can view the Orientation Leadership Team presentation discussing these positions (they may need to be logged in to their WFU account to view it). The application is open now; applications are due by Jan. 16.

Does your Deac need study space for finals?

This may be helpful to your Deacs after they return from Thanksgiving and are beginning to formulate their study plans for final exams:

“Looking for a place to study for finals? Visit Wake Study Space to see available spaces. There will also be extended hours in Scales, Carswell, Greene, Kirby and Manchester Dec. 6-12.”

Walk with Wente: Meet Dr. Kyana Young of Engineering

Academic excellence abounds at Wake Forest, and we see it again and again in the remarkable scholarship of our talented faculty. To wit, you can watch the newest episode of Walk with Wente, where President Wente walks and talks with associate professor Kyana Young about engineering research, hands-on learning and how her students are making meaningful contributions to community projects focused on water quality. Dr. Young said: “As engineers, it is our responsibility not just to provide the technical solution, but also to consider the ethical components.”

And for our new P’30 families of Early Decision students who are new members of the Daily Deacdom, you can see past episodes of Walk with Wente here. It might be really fun for you to see some of the professors your students might come to know during their time at Wake.

Student Networking Mixer Dec. 2

“Join YPO in partnership with Market Readiness and Employment for The Plug, a high-energy networking mixer connecting Wake Forest students across class years and career interests. This event brings together juniors and seniors who have successfully landed internships and full-time roles in fields like investment banking, consulting, accounting, business management, real estate, wealth management, math business, and more — ready to share their insights with underclassmen eager to learn. This event is open to all students in both the College and the School of Business.”

Here’s the registration link or see the flyer below (click to enlarge).

And a reminder for those of you who will be cooking the Thanksgiving turkey:

Meme: I don't know who needs to hear this, but move the frozen turkey to the fridge
