President Susan R. Wente to step down in June
Dr. Susan R. Wente announced today that she will step down as Wake Forest University’s president on June 30, 2026. She has served as Wake Forest’s 14th president and a Distinguished University Professor of Biology and Biochemistry since July 2021.
“With a sense of gratitude and optimism, I write today to share a personal decision,” Wente wrote in a message to the community. “After considerable reflection, I have decided to conclude my presidency on June 30, 2026, at the end of my fifth year.”

Hit the Bricks is today – try to watch on the Quad Cam
The other big news is that today is Hit the Bricks – one of the best days all year. You can try and see the action via the Quad Cam, or encourage your Deacs to FaceTime you from the Quad or send you some pics/video.
Hit the Bricks is all about joy, community, school spirit, and a little well-intentioned competition in honor of Brian Piccolo, one of the best sons of Wake Forest, unrivaled by any, in the words of our fight song.
Reminder to order Halloween care packages by Oct. 8
Residence Life and Housing wants to remind the Daily Deacdom that:
“Halloween is almost here! Send your student a care package to remind them you’re thinking of them. Each box is filled with festive snacks and goodies to make their day a little brighter. Be sure to order by October 8 so it arrives right on time.”
Every college student likes a care package, so please consider sending something sweet to your sweet Deacs.
And to all who will be observing Yom Kippur, may you be inscribed for a good year.
