- Update to Face to Face schedule
- P’29 weekly message
Today will be a bit briefer than usual, as I am trying to work ahead: I have carpal tunnel surgery scheduled for this Thursday so am trying to preschedule some Daily Deacs. Thankfully the surgery is on my non-dominant hand. The great unknown is whether I will be unable to work for just a few days, or a week or two; that will depend on how the procedure goes.
So today-Wednesday will be short Daily Deacs, but the hope is I can get some ready for you that will go out during my absence. Thank you for your understanding.
Update to Face to Face schedule
Yesterday, I received an email regarding an unanticipated change to the Face to Face speaker forum. Here is an excerpt:
“We’ve all heard the familiar saying that the only constant in life is change. Today, I have one of life’s changes to share with you.
NBA All-Star, philanthropist, entrepreneur and Wake Forest basketball legend Chris Paul will step up to serve as the keynote speaker at the Face to Face Speaker Forum on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. at LJVM Coliseum.
Our previously announced keynote event with Earvin “Magic” Johnson is being postponed to a later date due to unforeseen circumstances associated with Johnson. The postponement is beyond our control, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling of the Magic Johnson keynote.
Face to Face is profoundly grateful to Chris Paul for rearranging his schedule at the very last minute and enthusiastically agreeing to come to Winston-Salem. Chris Paul is, once again, answering the call when Wake Forest needs him. For basketball and Wake Forest fans, this will be a rare opportunity to experience a personal, in-depth conversation between NBA guard Chris Paul and CBS sports commentator Tracy Wolfson.
Your tickets to the Johnson keynote will be honored as entry to the Chris Paul event. Parking passes will also be honored. If you have family or friends who do not already have tickets to our September 16 keynote, good seats are available at facetoface.wfu.edu.”
In addition to being an amazing basketball player, Chris Paul is an amazing guy. I feel like we used to call him the Mayor of Winston-Salem due to how beloved he was within our community. So while I am sure your Deacs might be sad that Magic could not come as planned, this will still be a fantastic speaker for them (and you, if you have tickets).
P’29 weekly message
This week’s topic for our P’29s is how your new Deacs are adjusting to the academic workload, and a reminder of the many free resources to assist them. You can read it here.
