End of the Week
In this Issue:
- Reminder to Enroll or Waive in Student Health Insurance (including students studying abroad in 25-26)
- WFU Tennis Champions Return to the Court—Celebrate with Us!
- A generational funny for families of a certain age
It’s the end of the week, and we’re past the halfway mark of Summer Session II – just two more weeks to go. I have been teaching a class and it’s been delightful to be around students again on a daily basis.
Once Summer Session II ends, we will be in full tilt preparation for new student move in. Right now there are a lot of construction trucks, temporary fencing, and obvious work taking place. And while it looks like a lot of activity right now, our campus will be picture perfect when the Class of 2029 and their families arrive for move-in and Orientation/New Deac Week, and then the campus will really be hopping when our upperclass students return.
I for one can’t wait to have everyone back!
Reminder to Enroll or Waive in Student Health Insurance (including students studying abroad in 25-26)
I will run this reminder several times between now and the deadline (September 15), but want to be aware that ALL families of ALL class years understand that their students are automatically charged $1,421 for student insurance and are required to either enroll or waive insurance, with the exception of international students who are automatically enrolled.
If you do not enroll or waive by the deadline of September 15, you will be responsible for the $1,421 charge, regardless of any other coverage your Deac may have.
Domestic students participating in Study Abroad programs in 25-26 will still be required to enroll in or waive the Student Health Insurance Plan prior to their Study Abroad program; this ensures coverage in the event that a student must return to the United States for medical reasons.
If you have questions, visit the website or contact University Health Plans at 1-833-207-7430 or info@univhealthplans.com.

A generational funny for families of a certain age
We’ll close today on a light note.
I hope I am not the only college parent out there whose kid will occasionally drop some current slang term and I need to ask for a definition. My ’27 is an outstanding Young Person Translator for me, though I will admit they often call me “Boomer” when I ask for what the word means, or how to use it in a sentence.
Given that, this meme below crossed my social media this morning and it gave me a giggle. Hope some of y’all might like it too :)
Happy weekend, Daily Deacdom!
