My day is jam packed with meetings and other events, so we will jump right into today’s news!

Space Planning update

I am sharing this excerpt from our WFU Should Know student e-newsletter because I thought families might be interesting in our space planning efforts:

“On the first Thursday of each month, the Space Planning Project Team brings you an update on Wake Forest’s space planning efforts and opportunities for you to provide your feedback:

  • Spaceplanning.wfu.edu has a new look: the Space Planning website has been updated to reflect both the Near-Term Space Plan and the Bicentennial Space Plan. Please visit the website to learn more about Wake Forest’s ambitious space planning efforts.
  • Virtual Outreach Sessions (March 26): More than 65 faculty, staff, and students attended one of two virtual outreach sessions offered last week.
  • Bicentennial Space Plan Workshop 2 (April 10-11): This workshop will include scheduled Listening Sessions, as well as a meeting of the Executive Committee and Advisory Group. Listening Session participants are identified by the Working Groups.
  • Space Planning Pop-Ups: Stop by one of these four Space Planning Pop-Ups to share your vision for the future of space use at Wake Forest:
    • April 10: Farrell Hall Living Room from 9-11 a.m.
    • April 10: Benson University Center 2nd Floor from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
    • April 11: Z. Smith Reynolds Library (near the Library Services Desk) from 9:30-11 a.m.
    • April 11: Kirby Manchester Halls Study Space (on the first floor near the Math and Stats Center) from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • The Grounds Update: The Grounds has entered a pivotal phase of infrastructure enhancements focused on environmental restoration, connectivity, and pedestrian-friendly design. Read the latest announcement.”

Do encourage your Deacs to go to one of the Space Planning popups next week; we want to hear from student voices about their space needs.

New Program Directors Selected for the WFU Houses in Europe

The Center for Global Programs and Studies recently announced new program directors for Wake Forest’s study abroad houses in Europe. Professor of Chemistry Christa Colyer will be the new Program Director of the Worrell House in London. Associate Professor of German and Russian Grant McAllister has been appointed the new Director of the Flow House in Vienna. Professor of Health and Exercise Science Peter Brubaker has been selected as the new Director of Casa Artom in Venice.

Joseph Doria III: A day in the life of a senior

A new photostory just landed in my inbox and this one was such fun: it’s a profile of a senior, Joseph Doria III, with pictures to help show a day in his life.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And remember you can subscribe to our photostories at the bottom of any photostory page.

Campus Day for Accepted Students tomorrow

Tomorrow there will be a good number of visitors on campus: accepted students with their families. Some of these students are already committed to Wake and are just coming to get one more dose of us before college begins and really get excited. Other students are still deciding between Wake and their other choices – so this can be an opportunity to kick the tires and get a feel for us before making their decision.

If you are a P’29 already committed family attending Campus Day tomorrow, the Office of Family Engagement will have a table during the morning check-in period until the first program starts in Wait Chapel. I told them I would come by too, so if you are a Daily Deac-er, please come by and say hello. We are not sure of our exact location yet (could be closer to Wait Chapel or closer to Reynolda Hall), but they have a big poster display that sits on a table – you can’t miss it.

Hoping to meet many new Deacs (and their families tomorrow!)
