Today is Reading Day, which means a day where there are neither classes (those ended yesterday) nor finals – in other words, it is a day for students to read and study before final exams begin tomorrow (see exam schedule).
I was in the Benson Center this morning before 9 am for a meeting and was surprised not to see more students there studying. I bet the early birds were at ZSR instead.
And speaking of ZSR…
Library Decorating Committee
Each fall and spring during Finals Week, a group of very creative and talented students provide decorations for the ZSR atrium. They are helped by staff who get them in the building after hours, but the team is sworn to secrecy as to the identity of the decorators.
The group has done some amazing displays throughout my time at Wake, but this year might be my favorite ever: they have taken great works of art and Wake Forest-ized them. I’ll share some of my favorite pictures below, but I encourage you to view the full gallery here.
They even made a gallery map, complete with WF-ized titles of these great works of art.
Honestly, this is an 11 out of 10 in my book. A masterpiece.
Deac in a Day: event for seniors who might be interested in grad school at our School of Business
Do you have a senior who is trying to think about what comes next after graduation? The School of Business is hosting Deac in a Day on May 2nd from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.:
“For any Wake seniors still considering next steps after graduation, this Friday’s Deac in a Day event in the School of Business is a streamlined way to apply and get an admissions decision quickly — just in time for graduation.
The event provides attendees a comprehensive overview of graduate student life and allows for the opportunity to meet current students and admissions members to learn more about the MS in Management, MS in Accountancy, and MS in Business Analytics programs. Wake seniors from any major are welcome to attend.
Registrants are encouraged to submit an application to their program of choice before the event takes place. By doing so, attendees can complete their admissions interview during Deac in a Day and receive an admissions decision on the next business day.”
Registration Deadline: Thursday, May 1st

Final grade info
Students (and their families, I’m sure) are always interested in knowing when they will see final grades.
Those dates are on the Academic Services Calendar of the Office of the University Registrar’s website. For May degree candidates (i.e., students expected to graduate), their grades should be viewable by May 12. Final grades for non-degree candidates (i.e., all students not expected to graduate this year) should be viewable by May 20.
Good luck to all our Deacs as they begin their final exams tomorrow!
