Happy [very cold] midweek of the last week of classes! It’s not long now and your Deacs will be home for Winter Break! Tonight is the Late Night Breakfast and I look forward to serving your Deacs!

Here are a few other events of note.

Tailgate for Women’s College Cup (soccer)

Word reached me yesterday that there will be a tailgate before the Wake women’s soccer game on Friday. Here are the details:

“This Friday, the No. 2-seed Wake Forest women’s soccer team will take on the the No. 3-seed Stanford Cardinal in the semifinals of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament! Join us in Cary for a pregame tailgate to celebrate the season and support the Demon Deacons.

Friday, December 6
Tailgate Begins at 2:30 p.m.
Kickoff at 5:00 p.m.

Registration is free [and encouraged]

Please note that game tickets are not included as a part of registration. At this time, tickets for the NCAA women’s soccer semifinal are sold out; however, additional tickets should become available for purchase from the NCAA later this week following the return of team allotment tickets and through official resale. Stay up-to-date with all news surrounding tickets for the College Cup at NCAATickets.com.”

Even if you can’t get tickets to the game, being there for the tailgate with other enthusiastic Wake fans would be a ton of fun. And the game will be televised: “make sure to tune in to ESPNU on Friday, December 6 at 5:00 p.m. to catch the Deacs’ biggest game yet.”

ConsentCon registration open for students

ConsentCon 2025, a conference dedicated to exploring the meaning and operationalization of consent on college campuses, will be held on Tuesday, February 11 in the Benson University Center. Registration for the conference opened on December 1, and the organizers asked me to share the following info with our Deac families:

“Consent is an essential element for healthy relationships and how to respect personal boundaries and the boundaries of others. Consent is important in many aspects of your student’s daily lives, not just in sexual relationships, and it is a vital part of clear and honest communication.

Understanding consent helps your student understand their own boundaries and communicate those boundaries clearly with others, as well as respecting others’ boundaries.

Please encourage your student to register for ConsentCon as a unique, interactive way to continue this important conversation!”
