In this Issue:

  • Hurricane Helene Emergency Scholarship applications
  • Preparing your residence for Thanksgiving Break
  • P’28 weekly message; ’28 Letters So Dear and Life in The Forest

Fall is one of my favorite Wake Forest seasons because the trees and leaves are just so beautiful. True to form, this year the trees seemed to be at peak color around the first week of November, and the leaves have been steadily coming down ever since.

Tomorrow and Thursday are supposed to be a lot cooler: high of 57 tomorrow and high of only 48 on Thursday (plus rainy on Thursday too). Hopefully your Deacs will check their weather app of choice before they leave their rooms.

Just a few items to share today. Here goes!

Hurricane Helene Emergency Scholarship applications

Our Office of Financial Aid wanted families who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene to be aware of this important information:

“Hurricane Helene Emergency Scholarship applications are available now through Monday, Nov. 18. Any Wake Forest student who has a financial need related to the impact of Hurricane Helene may complete this application. To qualify for consideration, the student must reside either temporarily or permanently in an affected area. Read more.”

Preparing your residence for Thanksgiving Break

The Office of Residence Life and Housing sent this message about how students should prepare for the Thanksgiving break. Important takeaways:

  • All resident students are asked to complete a form to let us know if they will be staying on campus or leaving
  • Residence halls will be open during the Thanksgiving break, but there will be limited staff on site
  • Dining hours may be limited, so students staying should plan ahead for their needs
  • Students leaving for the break are asked to prepare their room before they go (read the full message for details)

Closer to Thanksgiving Break, I should have more detail on changes to campus operations during the break; will share that once I get it.

P’28 weekly message; ’28 Letters So Dear and Life in The Forest

The weekly message for P’28s this week is about our Honor Code and academic integrity, which is treated very seriously at Wake Forest. If you work in higher ed yourself, you probably have been reading the same articles I have about the proliferation of cheating, particularly with the use of AI tools like ChatGPT. Students do not want to get on the wrong side of the Honor Code.

In addition, your ’28 students received their weekly Letters So Dear (from the Office of Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs), as well as Life in The Forest (from the Office of Residence Life and Housing).
