It’s Election Day! Many of our students will be voting in their first presidential election, which is an exciting milestone. I am grateful to every student who is exercising their right to vote and hope they will choose to be an active voter for the rest of their lives.

I was out yesterday so am catching up on the news. Here you go!

Night Market on Thurs. 11/7

My friends in Global Programs and Studies wanted me to remind any students in the Daily Deacdom that we have a great event coming up this week: the Night Market:

“Students are invited to a Night Market, Thursday, November 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Manchester Plaza. Hosted by the Center for Global Programs & Studies to celebrate International Education Week, the Night Market will be an eclectic offering of activities, vendors and free global food to create an atmosphere reminiscent of markets around the world.”

This is always a terrific event and I would encourage everyone who can to attend.

Project Pumpkin photostory

In case your Deacs did not share photos of Project Pumpkin, our outstanding photographer Lyndsie Schlink has you covered! View the Project Pumpkin photostory (and subscribe to photostories if you want them to come straight to your inbox).

Final exam care packages

The Office of Residence Life and Housing is offering final exam care packages through their partner SWAK University Services. Read more about how to order these care packages. The deadline for ordering is November 12.

For P’28s: Letters So Dear and Life in The Forest message for ’28s, weekly message for P’28s

Yesterday our ’28 students received their weekly issue of Letters So Dear. The Office of Residence Life and Housing also sent the Life in The Forest message to our ’28 students. And for our P’28s, our weekly message just for you is entitled “And I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.’

Post-election processing

As Dr. Wente’s message yesterday mentioned, there will be some post-election processing spaces available to students tomorrow, as well as ongoing programming:

“The Office of Wellbeing will also co-host spaces for processing and reflection. These efforts will continue informally throughout the remainder of the week (see the schedule of opportunities).

As we look together toward the future, I trust that our Wake Forest community will be known for how we seek common ground through respectful dialogue and thoughtful listening.”

That’s all the news I have for you today. I will be out of the office tomorrow but will prepost a Daily Deac for you.
