  • Each P’28 parent/family member should download the New Deac Welcome Week app
  • Reminder to register for Family Weekend (and new events added)
  • Great seats still available for the Family Weekend football game (Sept. 28)
  • After-action review of spring demonstration response

Today is the first day our ’28s doing Pre-Orientation programs can move in. Some are arriving today, and then a larger wave of Pre-Orientation ’28s will arrive tomorrow. It’s so exciting to have our students back with us! I’ve been involved with move-in, so most of today’s content is amplifying messages from other offices.

Reminders for Check-in at the LJVM Coliseum

When your students arrive at the LJVM Coliseum for check-in, the students will need to look for the line that corresponds to the first letter of their last name, then get in that line and start the check-in process.

We ask families not to follow your student to the check in line, just to keep the lines from being too long. (You can of course enter to use the restrooms and then rejoin your student outside; look for the sign on the side of LJVM indicating Restrooms).

Each P’28 parent/family member should download the New Deac Welcome Week app

Our Office of Orientation, New Student, and Transition Programs wanted me to encourage all P’28 families coming to family Orientation to download the New Deac Welcome week on all attendees’ phones (not just one for the family). Here is why:

Certain sessions have capacity limits (some as small as 25). The hosts of these sessions need to know who has registered, and who is on the waitlist, and if they want to make sure they have a seat, they will need to select the sessions as individuals.

Some sessions families may be interested in attending may take place at the same time, so a “divide and conquer” strategy would allow them to get all the information provided.

Reminder to register for Family Weekend (and new events added)

The Family Weekend team asked me to share the following with you:

“We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates for Family Weekend 2024, happening from September 27-29!

New Schedule Highlights:

  • Daily Deac Live with Betsy Chapman: Join us on Friday afternoon for a special live session.
  • Urban Legend Tours: There is limited availability on Saturday. You can reserve your spot when you arrive on campus to check in, so don’t miss out!
  • Crafting at WakerSpace: Enjoy creative crafting opportunities for those not attending the game.
  • Game tickets are also still available, but going fast.

Don’t forget, Family Weekend registration is still open! Secure your spots and get ready for an unforgettable weekend.”

As for the Daily Deac session with me on Friday afternoon, I am still working on format but am leaning towards having a very casual conversation and giving time for y’all to ask questions you have (about anything Daily Deac, WFU, etc.). If you have questions you’d love me to answer, you can ask them here (this is an anonymous form, so ask me anything!)

Great seats still available for the Family Weekend football game (Sept. 28)

My friends in Athletics tell me that there are still great seats available for the Family Weekend football game on September 28 (vs. Louisiana). I am told this includes premium seating options in our Flow Lexus Club, Touchdown Club, and East Side Club.

To purchase Family Weekend premium or season tickets options, please call the Wake Forest Ticket Office at 336.758.3322 ext 1.

After-action review of spring demonstration response

Yesterday, President Wente sent an email to the campus community about the after-action review of the spring demonstration response. It began:

“On Monday, August 12, After-Action Review Committee co-chairs Arjun (Raja) Chatterjee and Corey D. B. Walker shared the final report of their Committee’s findings and recommendations with me. Earlier today, they provided this report to the campus community and published it on the Committee website.”

To all our families who will be moving in students between today and next week, I wish you safe travels and a smooth move-in!
