Happy Tuesday, Deac families – and a short week at that. Hope you had a good long weekend. We’re at the end of the little lull between Commencement and Summer Session I, which begins tomorrow. If your student is doing Summer Session I or II, please note that all tuition must be paid June 1.

Today I have a little bit of everything to share with you. Take what you need and scroll past anything you don’t. 🙂

Please share with your students: Space Planning virtual feedback opportunity

On May 1, the Near-Term Central Space Planning Committee and Ayers Saint Gross held an Open House to hear Wake Forest faculty, staff, and students’ thoughts on priorities for outdoor spaces, study spaces, learning spaces, collaborative spaces, desired look and feel, and amenities. To broaden this effort, a virtual feedback opportunity is available that mirrors the in-person experience. Students (as well as faculty and staff) are invited to participate through Friday, June 14.

Because our student e-newsletter is no longer running for the summer, I’d be grateful if you shared this link for the virtual feedback opportunity with your Deacs. I believe they will need to be logged in with their WFU email and password to be able to access the form. Thanks in advance for your help in getting our students’ voices represented!

Baseball Deacs selected as #2 seed in Greenville regional

It was a very late Friday night and a sweet win over UNC, but our Deacs ran out of steam on Saturday in the ACC Tournament. Fear not, though: we were selected as the No. 2 seed in the Greenville Regional. Wake will open NCAA Tournament play against the Rams on Friday, May 31 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ in the second game of the regional. Read more here.

Weekly Update for P’28s

Each Tuesday, we have been sending a weekly update to incoming P’28 families. You can find this week’s issue here, along with the previous weeks’ messages. This week’s message focuses on academics and the upcoming June advising sessions, plus things you/your ’28s should be doing this week.

Note that for many (if not most) if the student action items, they have to be logged in to their WFU google account to be able to take care of those tasks; those links are not accessible to families. And as a reminder, students are not allowed to share their login/password with anyone (including parents/loved ones).

Yesterday, our ’28 students received this message from the Office of Orientation, New Student and Transition Programs.

We’ve been getting a fair number of inquiries about where to find photos from Commencement weekend. You can see those in this Flickr gallery.

School of Divinity announces initiative on Religion, Pluralism, and American Public Life

At the installation service of Corey D. B. Walker as Dean of the Wake Forest University School of Divinity, President Wente announced she has committed funding to support a new initiative on “Religion, Pluralism, and American Public Life” that will be based at the School of Divinity.

“This initiative will provide the University and the broader public with essential resources to deepen civil discourse and civic engagement in a time when both are critical to our future,” said President Wente. “I applaud the School of Divinity for boldly engaging in this important work.”
