Friday Thoughts
In this Issue:
- What does Pro Humanitate mean to you?
- Our Motto Means More
- Recruitment
It is a comparatively balmy 46 degrees today, but it will be frigid temps again tomorrow. And if you look into mid next week, it will be nearly 60.
This is NC weather at its best, as shown below 😉
What does Pro Humanitate mean to you?
I hope that families are following Wake’s various social media accounts, because there’s a lot of good stuff out there. Today our official Wake Forest University accounts shared a terrific video with our students talking about what our motto, Pro Humanitate (for humanity), means to them.
You can see the video on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). These students say it better than I ever could. And even though none of them are my children, I am proud of them as if they were 🙂
Our Motto Means MoreÂ
Related to the item above, there was a teaser in yesterday’s WFU Should Know student e-newsletter that goes out each Thursday afternoon, and families might want to see this as well:
“Don’t leave the couch during commercial breaks if you’re watching the men’s basketball game against the Tar Heels. Wake Forest’s new commercial will air for the first time during the game on Jan. 22. Like Wake Forest, it will be . . . distinct. Our embrace of Pro Humanitate sets us apart. Our marketing should do the same. If you miss the game, be sure to check out Wake Forest’s social media accounts (@WakeForest) afterwards to learn more about our new campaign. Go Deacs!”
Recruitment
Panhellenic (sorority) recruitment concludes this weekend, with Pref Night on Saturday and Bid Day on Sunday. Fraternity recruitment officially kicked off yesterday, with their Bid Day coming next Wednesday.
For those with students going through this process, I wish them the best. And whatever the outcome may be, it might be helpful to think back to that old Rolling Stones song:
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, well, you just might find
You get what you need
Have a great weekend, Daily Deacdom!
