Community Safety Advisory for traffic this a.m./reminder on how you can get safety alerts

Early this morning, there was a Community Safety Advisory issued for Silas Creek Parkway due to downed power lines from a traffic accident.

As a reminder, families can opt in to receive safety alerts via the WakeSafe app; you can find the instructions here.

Scholarship for Study or Internships in Africa for summer 2024

I was very happy to see this cross my inbox – it’s about a scholarship to do either a summer study or internship in Africa during summer 2024:

“The Center for Global Programs and Studies is excited to share that the Summer 2024 application for The Rusty Johnson Scholarship for Study or Internships in Africa is now open! The Rusty Johnson Scholarship program will provide full cost scholarships for students to study or participate in internships in Africa during Summer 2024.

Students must be accepted to and participate on an eligible study abroad program and should submit a scholarship application by the priority deadline of February 15, 2024. A number of eligible programs offer internship opportunities across a variety of industries and professional areas including Wake Forest’s newest program – WFU Ghana: Internships in African Industries.

Additional information regarding eligible abroad programs as well as the scholarship application can be found at the following link: Rusty Johnson Scholarship for Study or Internships in Africa. Questions can be directed to Janice Claybrook, Associate Director of Global Study Away, at claybrjw@wfu.edu.”

This could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have a transformational experience in Africa this summer. I hope your Deacs consider applying.

Reminder to fill prescriptions before Winter Break

Students’ minds are on finals, understandably. But it may be worth a quick reminder to your Deac if they are on any prescription medicine to make sure that they check to ensure they have enough to last them through Winter Break. If needed, they should request a refill asap so they get it in time before they leave for break.

Today’s finals funny

As we continue Finals Funnies on our official Facebook page, today’s subject is group projects, which I confess I never liked 🙂

every group project you've ever done. 1 person does 99% of the work, 1 doesn't show up until the last minute, etc.
