I have my ’27 home with me for Fall Break (theirs is Mon-Tues, whereas Wake’s is Thurs-Fri) and it has been an absolute joy to have my only child back with us. If your Deac is coming home for the break, do them a favor and make some of their favorite goodies (mine loves Ghiradelli brownies), and/or take them to a restaurant they love (he had many requests), and be sure to allot plenty of time for your Deac to love on their pet(s), if applicable.
School of Business applications for sophomores
One of my colleagues shared information about the process that current sophomores will go through to apply to the School of Business:
Sophomores interested in the School of Business will complete their application in two parts. The first is the formal application, and the second is the interview. Details for each are listed below:
Part 1: Online Application: The application window opened on Oct. 6. It will close promptly at noon on Oct. 13.
Part 2: Kira Interview Assessment: Students must submit a one-way interview for the 2024 admissions review process. All students with completed and submitted applications will receive an email inviting them to complete the interview. Emails will be sent by 1 p.m. on Oct.13. Responses need to be submitted by 5 p.m. on Oct.15.
Unpacking Barbie discussion tomorrow
Barbie fans can join the Women’s Center tomorrow (Tuesday, October 10) for a conversation about the Barbie movie with Dr. Mary Dalton. I am told that food will be provided. Interested students should go to Benson 314 at 12:30 Tuesday to join in the discussion. (I wish I could go, because I loved the movie and Mary Dalton is a dear friend, but sadly I have a conflict.)
Study spaces
Is your student looking for a study space? We have a Wake Study Space website run by the College that lists lots of spaces; the ZSR Library also has its own website about study spaces.
I was in a meeting earlier today in the Wellbeing Center and let me tell you, there are lots of nooks and crannies in there that are ideal for studying (and at 10:30-11 a.m. were quite empty). There are nooks on the ends of the buildings with little groupings of comfy chairs (and on multiple levels). Near the end that attaches to the Sutton Center, there are also high tables and stools, and there is a lovely little hideaway nook that overlooks the pool. All great spots if your Deac still hasn’t found their exact study spot.
P’27s: Letters So Dear and Weekly Message
It’s Monday, so our ’27s got their weekly edition of Letters So Dear today, and we published a new entry in our Weekly Messages for First-Year Families; this week’s is about health and wellbeing. This might be especially good reading if your ’27 is coming home for Fall Break, and you sense an opening to talk to them about wellbeing.
