Spring Break begins in just a few days, but already I feel a great deal of Spring Fever from our students. The weather today is absolutely ideal – low 70s, plenty of sun, gentle breezes – as you can see on the Quad Cam. And flowers are popping up everywhere on the ground and in blooming trees. Another few weeks and Mother So Dear will be absolutely resplendent in all her spring colors.
Here’s a few things to think of as we approach Spring Break:
Secrest Artists Series concert this Thursday
The Secrest Artists Series is hosting A Far Cry at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday in Brendle Recital Hall. Known for its high energy, chamber orchestra A Far Cry will feature new works by Osvaldo Golijov, Jesse Montgomery, and Navajo composer Juantio Becenti, and their signature performance from memory of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. Students can click here to reserve seats using their WFU ID.
These free, professional quality performances are one of the out-of-the-classroom educational perks of being a Wake student. All too soon they will graduate and will have to pay for this kind of concert – so urge them to go to the Secrest series while they can!
Spring Break hours of service
Campus is open during Spring Break, but because many of our students leave for the week, there are adjusted hours for many campus services.
Hospitality and Auxiliary Services has posted the Spring Break Break Hours of Service for campus dining, mail services, transportation, and more. Students staying on campus for break should make note of dining locations and hours of operation and ensure they make plans accordingly, as not all dining venues will be open or may have adjusted hours of service.
Wake Study Space – find a place to study
Because we have hit midterm season, finding a place to study may be taking on a special amount of importance in your Deac’s life. In case they are not aware, we do have a Wake Study Space website to help them find study spaces on campus. CLASS also offers Tuesday night drop in study hours from 7-9 p.m. in Greene Hall 245 (click photo to enlarge).
Wishing your Deacs will crush all their midterms, and that they will enjoy this gorgeous weather!
