By the time today’s Daily Deac hits your mailboxes, we will be halfway through final exams! The ZSR Library has been jam packed all week with studying students, and I thought it might be fun to show you what your Deacs are seeing in the Atrium as they study.
There is a secret Library Decorating Committee. This is an anonymous group of students who decorate ZSR twice each year, right before fall and spring final exams begin. I spoke with a well-placed source at ZSR to ask about this secret committee. Here’s what they told me:
“We love that there are students at Wake Forest that so love the library and desire to honor beloved administrators that they take time out of their VERY BUSY end of semester schedules to bring this holiday cheer to everyone. It is quite a testament to the university leadership that they are given this “shout out,” and we are so pleased that they utilize the library atrium for the installation. We think this is another example of how much ZSR partners with students every day, including providing a space for this artistic expression! We are never clued into what will be installed, trusting the Library Decorating Committee implicitly to come up with the design. (Not knowing is part of the excitement!) I hope this tradition never ends!”
This year’s decorations, Welcome to a Wente Wonderland, plays on people’s names: our Provost, Michele Gillespie, is now Michele Gilleski. Vice President for Campus Life, Shea Kidd Brown, is now Sleigh Kidd Brown. Football coach Dave Clawson is now Santa Clawson, and campus barber Dean Shore is shown as Frosty. So clever. You can see the pics below (click to enlarge).
