Today I’ll share a handful of things that have hit my inbox of late.
Is your Deac looking for something Halloween-y to do this weekend? There are several events coming up: Fall Festival, which will feature a petting zoo, concert, a movie and more (Fri. Oct. 28 – 4-9:30 p.m. at Manchester Plaza),Game Night at ZSR, featuring snacks, pizza, giveaways, a costume contest, and more (Fri. Oct. 28 – 7-9 p.m. at ZSR), a tour of the Babcock and Luter Haunted Tunnels (Mon. Oct. 31 – 6-9 p.m. at the Babcock & Luter Tunnels). If your students aren’t already using The Linkor the Corq app to look for events of interest, encourage them to start!
For students planning to vote in NC, I just found out that we have a series of March to the Polls that your Deacs can join. From Oct. 31-Nov. 4, various organizations and departments (as well as interested students, faculty, and staff) will walk from the Benson Center (right in front of the food court) to Winston-Salem First Assembly at the start of each hour from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. to cast their ballots. This location is a one-stop early voting site, which means your Deacs can register and vote at the same time. They will want to be sure they have read the guide to voting in NC and have their proof of residency, etc.
The Office of Residence Life and Housing is looking for RAs (Resident Advisers) for the 2023-24 academic year. They sent this messageto students to encourage them to apply to be an RA. I hope all interested Deacs will consider it.
For folks who like to see where Wake appears in the media, we have WFU in the Newsfor October 17-23. There was an article I found fascinating by our Christian Miller of the philosophy department entitled “Are Most People Liars?” (which included information about some researchers who did a study on college student lying).
And our e-newsletter for students, WFU Should Know, went out today.
