It is very cold in Winston-Salem right now (well, cold for us). There was frost on the ground and it was right about at freezing level first thing this morning, and it won’t get past 55 degrees or so. The next two nights will have lows in the 30s, but highs in the 60s, and then we are looking at temps in the 70s again. Welcome to fall in North Carolina!
If your Deacs are looking to add a little culture to their weekend, let me recommend this upcoming concert: Paving the Way: Clara Schumann & Ludwig van Beethoven: A Concert from the Wake Forest University Symphony Orchestra. “The Wake Forest University Symphony Orchestra welcomes our new Orchestra Director Dr. J. Aaron Hardwick to the podium and features award-winning faculty pianist Larry Weng performing Clara Schumann’s powerful Concerto in A minor. The WFUSO will close the evening with Beethoven’s iconic and moving Symphony No. 5 in C minor.”
We have shared a lot of voting information with our students, but want to make sure families are also aware that starting tomorrow (Thursday, October 20), One-Stop Early Voting begins in North Carolina and continues daily until Saturday, November 5. During this time, your student can register and vote all at once. We have an Early Voting site at Winston-Salem First Assembly (just off the Polo Road entrance across from Deacon Place). It is accessible via foot, less than a mile from the center of campus.
I got word today that our Business School is hosting a Fall 2022 event, Accounting for the Future, sponsored by Deloitte. “We are inviting historically Underrepresented (URG) freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all undergraduate institutions to learn more about how the Wake Forest MS in Accountancy program can prepare you to succeed in the world of accounting.” If this would be of interest to your student (either at Wake or if you have a qualifying student at other colleges), please direct them to the website.
