With the Labor Day holiday, our normal “Tuesday Newsday” is being pushed to Wednesday. Here are a few things that have popped up in my inbox.

For business students who want to go abroad, there will be an event next Weds. September 14th from 4-5 pm in Broyhill Auditorium, Farrell Hall: “Join the Center for Global Programs and Studies for the Business Abroad Information Session. Learn about several study abroad program options as well as logistical details such as how to apply, academics, funding, etc.” Interested students should RSVP here.

If you have a Deac abroad currently, they may want to know about Vote From Abroad. Vote from Abroad is a non-partisan platform that helps US citizens vote from abroad by producing the necessary Federal forms. You can see details in the pictures (click to enlarge). Speaking of voting, I’ll have more on this in a week or two, but National Voter Registration Day is coming on Sept. 20 and the Tribble Courtyard will help get Deacs info they need to register. The NC voter registration deadline is October 14 for general elections taking place on November 8, 2022. (After October 14, 2022, only same-day registration during one-stop early voting is available.) See how your Deacs can register to vote in NC. As I say every year, who our students vote for is up to them, but I want them all TO vote.

For our P’26s, your Deacs got their Letters So Dear on Monday of this week, and we posted a new Weekly Message for First-Year families on Monday as well. This week’s topic is The Frantic Phone Call/Text/FaceTime. Definitely worth a read. And if you are a P’26 and have not taken our Orientation/New Deac Week survey, please do it. We rely on your feedback as we plan future Orientations.

For those who like to see WFU in the News, our new issue is out, covering August 29-Sept 4. As the mom of a high school senior who is going through the college admissions process right now, I was especially interested to read the article in Inside Higher Ed by our own Eric Maguire, Vice President for Enrollment, on test optional admissions.

Finally, for those of you who want the view of the new Davis Field road, we’ve got you covered! Cars drive on a new section of road onto the Wake Forest campus as it opens for the first time on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
