There are two new faculty members of note that I just learned of this week:

Grammy award-winning producer and Winston-Salem native Patrick “9th Wonder” Douthit and renowned poet Brenda Marie Osbey will join the Wake Forest University African American Studies Program as professors for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Douthit will be Professor of the Practice in Residence in African American Studies for fall 2022, and Brenda Marie Osbey will be Distinguished Professor of the Practice in Residence in African American Studies for spring 2023.” You can read the full story here. We look forward to welcoming Douthit and Osbey – and all other new faculty! – to Wake Forest.

In other news, new ’26 students got a message today about new models in WakeWake, our student laptop program. Highlights include:

“Apple announced a new M2 processor and updated MacBook Air and 13″ MacBook Pro laptops plus Buy WakeWare Apple, get AirPods! Microsoft Surface has updated their Surface Laptop Go 2 to an 11th gen processor.” Read the full message.

If you are still wondering if a WakeWare laptop is right for your student, please know that WakeWare laptops run robust academic software at a negotiated price, bundled with accidental damage and theft protection, and the program provides a loaner laptop in case repairs are needed. Learn more at their website.
