Today I have some campus updates to share. First up today is about Family Weekend football game tickets:

Family Weekend football tickets go on sale on June 22nd via our Athletics department (we will share the link for tickets on June 21st). This is a change from past years, when you could order football tickets via the Family Weekend website. Family Weekend is October 7-9, and we play Army on October 8th (game time will be announced 10 days before the game due to television scheduling).

Students can get a free ticket to sit in the students’ football section with their WFU ID. If your student wants to sit with you, you will need to purchase a ticket for your student.

Family Weekend event registration will open August 3rd. We will have more details to share later this summer; you may wish to put a reminder in your calendar now. If you would like to begin making travel arrangements, a high level overview of the schedule can be found on the website. For those still looking for hotel accommodations, please peruse the Visit Winston Salem website for current hotel listings in the area; also consider Airbnb, VRBO, etc.

In other news, for families who have students here for Summer School, here is an item from Information Systems that may impact them:

“On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m., IS will be implementing network upgrades. During this time, users may experience intermittent disruptions of the wired and wireless networks, the phone system, VPN connectivity, and printing capabilities.

This summer, IS will be renewing and upgrading network equipment, resulting in higher resiliency and faster potential speeds throughout. This significant effort is part of our long term plan to ensure that our infrastructure is fully updated and supported by the manufacturer and that the University keeps pace with the rapid evolution of technology.

For status updates on this and future events, check Statuspage, displayed at the top left of the IS website or at status.is.wfu.edu.

I am going to be out of the office starting tomorrow through next Friday, so I have pre-posted some Daily Deacs to run in my absence. Hope you have a great week! Keep calm and Deac on
