Wake ‘N Shake, our 12-hour student dance marathon, takes place this weekend. Our News team has a terrific story that highlights some of the students involved in Wake ‘N Shake, and why this event matters so much to them:

“At age 5 months, Wake Forest sophomore Gabrielle Peko was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common childhood cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy treatments and some surgeries, she was pronounced in remission at age 2.

On Saturday, March 19, Peko will join more than 1,000 Wake students at Wake ‘N Shake, an annual dance marathon that raises money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund of the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. The event runs from noon to midnight in the Sutton Center. To register, go here.”

And a reminder that families are welcome to be in the [virtual] room for this year’s Wake ‘N Shake! As students participate, you can get an exclusive look at the in-person event by tuning in online with Imaginate events. Throughout the virtual event, you’ll have access to event highlights and the ability to interact with other members of the WFU community including alumni, parents and families, and more! Reserve your spot in the room, and join Wake ‘N Shake online on March 19th from 8-10 p.m. ET.

In other campus news, the Office of Residence Life and Housing sent the following message to current students (’23-’25) about signing their 2022-23 Housing and Dining Agreement; this includes students who plan to study abroad in the fall of 2022.

Academic advising is taking place right now and runs through next Friday (March 25). Students should be in touch with their lower-division advisers (i.e., pre-major adviser) or their major/minor adviser to talk about their proposed classes for Fall 2022 and to get their registration PIN. Students must have that adviser meeting to get their PIN. Registration will take place March 28 to  April 8.

It’s a rainy day today and predicted to rain a bit tomorrow too. But the weekend looks like it will be sunny and low 70s, which ought to be perfect.
