I mentioned this in yesterday’s post, but one of my colleagues put together the full list of amazing Wake Forest women who were profiled as part of International Women’s Day. Each of these wonderful Wake women have helped shape the Wake Forest experience. There are quick videos about each person – and honestly, one was more inspiring than the next. Hope you enjoy them.

Ally Swartzberg (’22), current student body president

Donna Edwards (’80) and Jocelyn Burton (’80), Trustees

Olga Pierrakos and Rebecca Alexander, faculty from Wake Engineering & Wake Downtown

Leah Wyrick (’22), Entrepreneurship student

Antionetta Richardson, Miss Netta of Deacon Dining

Kathryn Webster (’17), alumna

Christina Soriano, faculty member and administrator involved in Wake the Arts

Mahlea Hunt (’23), student and member of the Lumbee Tribe

Dr. Maya Angelou, former professor and poet

We certainly hope all our students are enjoying their break – and we also want to remind of a few important processes that will be taking place once they return: major-minor advising and lower-division advising (i.e., advising before you declare a major) will be taking place March 14-25. Students must have a meeting with their adviser before they can be given their PIN to register. Additionally, students will need to check their account for registration or financial holds and clear those up before they will be able to register for classes. (I always advise my students to check it when I advise them, and then the morning before they register, just so they have time to clear up any issues during business hours and thus be able to register). Also, the housing selection process will be taking place March 21-24.

For those of you whose Deacs stayed on campus for Spring Break, a note on the weather: the bad news is that temps are cooler and it has been rainy most of this morning (and the forecast calls for rain most of Saturday) – but the good news is our trees and flowers are really starting to explode in a profusion of color: daffodils and pink flowering trees and some of the tulips are starting to show. This will only get better in the coming weeks.

weather forecast for the next 5 days

It’s Humpday – the middle of the work week. Coast gently til the end of the week, Deac families 🙂
