Some of the folks in the Daily Deacdom have asked when we will know what the make up schedule is for the days of class we lost during the fertilizer fire. I don’t have those details yet, but as soon as I get them in my hot little hands, I will share them here. Thanks for your patience until then.

I need to ask for your help with something, friends. My excellent colleague Anna Marie Carr-Reinhard (’12) from the Office of Family Engagement is doing a graduate research project on families’ perceptions of Wake Forest University’s communications during COVID-19, and families’ feelings about their experience with the University during that time. She needs your help to fill out a short survey, which you can do here.

Please, please fill out that survey if you can. Grad students need high participation in surveys to give the most accurate picture of people’s experiences; if you get a low number of responses, it may not really reflect our population. So by taking her survey, you will be contributing to our understanding of parent and family behavior (which will help us serve you better!, and you’ll be helping my friend in her degree journey. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

In big-name upcoming events, our next Face to Face is on February 16 with an evening of conversation featuring the legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma. This time, there is not a student-only program in Wait Chapel for this event; students will go to the LJVM Coliseum for the 7:30 program and will be admitted for free by showing their Wake ID. A free shuttle will run from Manchester Field House to the Coliseum beginning at 5:30 p.m.; there is a $10 fee to park at the LJVM. See student details. For our parents and families, if you are interested in attending, here’s how.

We’ll close on a happy note. A group of students and families shared their appreciation for everything the Fire Department did for our community in fighting the Weaver fertilizer plant fire. They got them a great big basket full of goodies as well as gift cards, which was gratefully received by the WSFD. Many thanks to these Wake Foresters for their Pro Humanitate spirit!
