At long last, Family Weekend is here! Wishing everyone a very warm welcome to campus and a great weekend!

For those who want to see some of the glory that was Hit the Bricks, our intrepid Ken Bennett has put together a wonderful collection of photos on Flickr. The backpacks you see in the pictures aren’t your students running between classes – they are filled with weights (used to be sand, may be something else) – if you are running/walking with a weighted backpack, you get double points for each lap. They also do some crazy laps, like you can’t walk normally (which is why you see some of these students tag-teaming like a wheelbarrow, or being pushed on chairs). Towards the end of the gallery is the Silent Lap to honor people who have been afflicted with cancer, and then remarks at the steps of Wait Chapel. That part is always very moving.

As we close out our special Sophomore Week with messages for our ’24 students, today’s message delves into the question of how many majors should I declare? As I often say, there is no right or wrong, just what is right for your student.

Hope everyone enjoys Family Weekend!
