On Tuesday evening, we held the first of two Virtual New Student Receptions for incoming students and their families. If you were not able to make it to the event, you can watch the recording here, and/or plan to attend the second Virtual New Student Reception, which will be held July 14th (RSVP here). During the Virtual New Student Reception, there is a Q&A function where you can ask questions; we fielded a good number of them Tuesday night, but you might have new questions by the 14th! In addition, if an in-person reception will be held in your area, we hope you’ll consider attending; details here.
One of the questions we had at the Virtual New Student Reception is ‘when is move-in for my student?‘ New student residence hall assignments will be sent out the week of July 26th. Once students receive their residence hall assignment, they can schedule a move-in appointment from available times on August 18 and 19 (August 20 is for sophomores, August 21-22 for juniors and seniors). Move-in appointments help control the flow of traffic and the number of people on campus at a given time (it’s far easier not to wait in a long car line to move in if we can stagger times).
If your student is accepted to a pre-Orientation program, or is a student-athlete who must report to school early, they will receive a move-in date directly from the Office of Residence Life and Housing. We are still working through the details on what parent and family Orientation programs will look like, as well as New Deac Week (aka Orientation) for students. Normally those schedules are published sometime in July, and we are grateful for everyone’s patience until then.
Also want to draw attention to some excellent advice provided by upperclass parents and families. You can find it here in these Jamboard slides. Use the next frame button to advance from page to page. While it is meant primarily for P’25s, I hope there might be some things that resonate for families of all years.
Finally, you may have noticed that we’ve been experiencing some quirks once again re: what time the Daily Deac hits your inbox. Thanks for your patience on the late deliveries. We’re trying to work on a fix for that.
