After a few sweltering 90+ degree days, we have a bit of a respite: the highs today and tomorrow are hovering right around 80, give or take a degree. It’s been raining off and on this morning: not a heavy soaker, just intermittent steady drizzle.

One bit of news today: for those who may be looking to purchase a Wake Ware computer, we have a few updates from that program:

Apple has announced their 2021 back-to-school promotion! Anyone purchasing a WakeWare Apple on or after Thursday, June 17 through September 27, 2021, will receive a pair of second-generation AirPods! Customers must add the “Apple AirPods 2nd Generation with Case” (a $159 value) to their cart in addition to their WakeWare Apple laptop when checking out online to receive the promotion.

You can upgrade to the AirPods Pro for an additional $90 or AirPods with a wireless charging case for an additional $40. Once you receive your purchase confirmation, email our Bookstore Manager at williawl@wfu.edu with your order number and preferred phone number. Our bookstore will call you at the number you list to pay the remaining amount over the phone.

Anyone who purchased a WakeWare Lenovo from May 1, 2021 to August 31, 2021 will be entered to win one of several Lenovo Branded YETI 20 oz. Rambler Tumbler, made from durable stainless steel with double-wall vacuum insulation to protect your hot or cold beverage. Winners will be notified on September 1, 2021.

A message about this was sent to all ’25s and transfer students (see archive of their messages here), but I wanted to share this here as well, just in case we have P’22s-’24s who may be laptop shopping.

Since we got the good news yesterday that we anticipate a return to our normal operating status this fall, I thought it might be nice to give everyone a peek at what normal falls of the past looked like, as seen through the lens of our Ken Bennett. Between move-in, classes, sports, and traditions like Project Pumpkin and Hit the Bricks, classes changing, and special celebrations like Holi, the ancient Hindu festival of color – our Deacs had a lot going on. And we have a lot to look forward to this fall!
