I am out of the office, so have pre-posted content for the remainder of the week.

LDOC (Last Day of Class) is tomorrow, May 6th. University Athletics, Campus Rec, and Student Engagement are hosting an LDOC Celebration in and around the McCreary football practice facility from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 6th. Activities include:

Four food trucks (sweet and savory)

Kick a field goal (football)

Shoot a goal on a field hockey net (field hockey)

Basketball area (men’s & women’s basketball)

Kick a Penalty Kick (men’s & women’s soccer)

Video services station set-up to record students saying: “Go Deacs!” for use with future athletic events

Inflatables and cornhole

Music by Wake Radio

The event is free and open to the entire campus. We hope to see your Deacs taking part in the festivities. It has been a long and strange year, and the fact that we have made it through it is something to be celebrated.

As our Deacs begin to move out of the residence halls, please encourage them to consider giving back to the Winston-Salem community and minimize the amount of waste they send to the landfill. Our Deacs Donate program provides an easy way for students to donate gently-used, unwanted items to local organizations like Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity. In order to honor the intent of donations, we do ask that items are not removed once they are placed in the donation bins (or at a donation collection site). You can see the Deacs Donate flyer for more info.

For students who have rental textbooks, here is a reminder of how those should be returned.

Finally, one more event note. Back by popular demand, the WFU Artisans’ Fair will be hosted this Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, virtually via Facebook–and just in time for Mother’s Day and graduation gift ideas! Items include: jewelry, woodworking, candles, garden art, personalized & customized theme-stitched t-shirt memory quilts, honey, handmade soaps, tie-dye, home decor, ornaments, screen printing, blankets, bird houses, paintings, cards, photos, and more! Join the event on Facebook to see all that will be offered, and marvel at the talent of our faculty and staff artisans!
