Here’s a little blast from the past for our P’21 parents and families: nearly 4 years ago, as the Class of 2021 was being finalized, we got a snapshot of who our ’21 students were. This was from the starting point of their college experience – and what an impressive lot they are.  Here’s a few factoids:

Total applied: 13,073

Total admitted: 3,604

Total enrolled: 1,350

Admit rate: 28%

Number enrolled Early Decision: 794

Gender breakdown: 45% men, 55% women

North Carolinians: 19%

Alumni children: 7%

Ethnic diversity: 29%

International students: 10%

Students in the top 5% of their class: 54%

Students in the top 10% of their class: 77%

But that’s only part of the story. Each person within that class – and indeed in all our classes – has their own personal story, their own journey that is unfolding, the gifts and talents they bring to campus. We already know they are incredibly smart and talented (they got into Wake Forest!), but they grow while they are here and blossom into who they are meant to be as adults.

Take a moment and think back about your student’s start to school, whether that was them starting as a first-year this past fall, or if they are a senior. Where do you see the most growth in them? How have they changed? What has surprised you about them as they edge into adulthood?

Celebrate their successes, big and small. No matter how old your students are, my bet is they will never tire of hearing you tell them you love them, and that you are proud of them. If you haven’t said it to them lately, take the time to write, call, or text them 🙂
