We’re in the midst of a surge here, and I am in a lot of meetings around same, but want to share what I know. Here goes.

Yesterday we published a new COVID update; read it here. Important points to note:

We are urging students to limit contact with others and limit unnecessary outings. Please see the message for a list of activities for which students are permitted to leave their residences.

Strictly observe the 10 pm NC curfew.

Provided instructions on what to do if they are ill (or if they think they have been exposed)

Notified that we are ramping up asymptomatic testing of all undergraduate students weekly for now (see section below).

Wear your masks.

Quarantine In Place (QIP)

We also have some interim guidance for students being asked  to Quarantine in Place in their residence hall/on-campus apartment, etc.

Student conduct:

Some of you have asked me if individual students or student organizations are facing any consequences of their conduct. We have added a new conduct update on our dashboard. Having talked to many parents about this, I can promise students are facing consequences.

In non-COVID news:

It snowed in the early hours of Sunday morning. Not a lot of snow, but enough for it to be pretty. Our student photographer, Riley Herriman, captured this great set of photos of the snow.

’24s got their issue of Letters So Dear today; the archive is available here

We had been set to run a Meet A Deac today, but there was so much COVID news today I wanted to keep the focus here. I hope to run it tomorrow.

Again I must beg your patience that we cannot guarantee a personal follow up to your emails due to the high volume we are experiencing at present. Be assured we are hearing and sharing everyone’s comments. The Call Center will be open from 10 am-5 pm Eastern through this Friday to assist you (336.758.7500).

Thank you for your continued patience in these extraordinary circumstances.
