Continued encouraging news on the dashboard today. Let’s keep this trending in the right direction.
Students got their issue of Your Corona Chronicle last night; read it here. One point to pull out – it talks about why the library and the Wellbeing Center have to be closed right now:
Spaces that offer the potential for students to gather in close proximity for long periods of time or engage in accelerated breathing can significantly increase the range of infection. With the number of cases where it is today, more drastic measures are necessary to reduce positive cases and return the campus to less restrictive operating levels. This isn’t permanent.
Just want to stress that last sentence: this isn’t permanent. This is one of those situations where short-term pain can get you long-term gain.
I got a ping today about a terrific program that is worth mentioning to your students — the President’s Aides:
The President’s Aides program consists of student leaders who serve as representatives of Wake Forest University and participate in a variety of University events throughout the year. Additionally, President’s Aides meet regularly with the Wake Forest President to provide additional communication between the student body and administration. President’s Aides represent students who have demonstrated leadership in academic life, student life and community service. The website, linkedhere, offers more details as well as the 2021/22 application.
Just to level set, this is a coveted position, so it is a competitive application process. But it is a great gig and so I would encourage students to consider applying.
It’s been a cold and gray day all day. There’s some slush on branches and bushes and this is definitely not the weather I want for Valentine’s Day. To bring your Deacs some cheer, I invite you to send them a Deacon Greeting – which is an e-card. Maybe it will give them a little pick me up.
Call Center will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 am-5 pm Eastern at 336-758-7500 if you or your Deacs have questions.
Call your Deacs and have that Friday conversation. Stay well, Deac families!
