Family Weekend dates
Hot off the presses via the Family Weekend website:
Wake Forest University is excited to invite our Demon Deacon families to campus October 1 – 3 for a fun weekend of activities including Demon Deacon football versus Louisville. We are optimistic about the opportunity to host this favorite Wake Forest tradition in full, but will of course closely follow current and projected public health and safety guidelines.
So mark your calendars and book your hotels now – but as with all things COVID, travel plans might be best made in pencil, not pen (i.e., be prepared to change plans/reservations if needed). It is unlikely we will have much more info on Family Weekend until closer to the summer (typically the schedule goes up June-ish and registration in early July), so mark your calendars and hold tight for now. In addition (and with the same caveats about public health), the full football schedule is here.
I have also had some questions about Commencement for the Classes of 2020 and 2021. Still awaiting details here and hope to know more in a few weeks. As soon as there’s news to share, I will share it.
Winston-Salem woke up to a very light dusting of snow this morning. It was enough to confuse my dogs when I let them out onto our deck this morning, but not enough to scrape together for a snowball or to play in. I feel bad for our students from hot-weather locales who might have been eager to see snow. We just haven’t had much this year.
If you missed this on social media, I just love this video of our students showing us their masks.
For our P’21s, I got word of Senior Mentoring Groups that might be of interest:
Seniors! Does life after Wake seem overwhelming? Are you interested in learning strategies to successfully navigate your post-grad transition? Join one of our 2021 Senior Mentoring Groups to discuss your upcoming transition to “the real world” with a faculty/staff facilitator and supportive group of peers feeling the same way. Groups will meet five times from mid-February through mid-April, for conversation and reflection, planning and feedback. By the end you will have resources and strategies to navigate what’s next, for you.
To join this LIMITED OPPORTUNITY fill out this application form by 5pm on Monday, February 8th. We’ll send you more information including your facilitator, meeting time, and next steps during the week of February 8th. Facilitators will work with their group to schedule exact dates and times for group meetings. Questions? Email Megan Hoyt at hoytmb@wfu.edu
