One of the unexpected outcomes of COVID was that our 2020 Summer Immersion Program for high school students seemed to be more popular than ever, even in an online format. They have just released the website for the 2021 Summer Immersion Program, and if you have a high schooler, I encourage you to check it out; details here. There are 20 institutes – everything from film, animation, and writing, to law, business, and medicine, to politics, neuroscience, and leadership – and many more. There will be an on-campus option (pending future public health guidance) and an online program as well. Great options for your high schooler’s summer.
I learned yesterday that our Computer Science department is once again participating in the worldwide Student Cluster Competition. The Wake team was selected for the third time in a row. Due to COVID, this will be a virtual competition, and our our team of 6 WFU students will be competing against 18 other teams from the basement of Manchester Hall here at Wake. You can visit the competition website and see the Wake team profile. The students are also posting their progress on Twitter and Instagram if you want to give a follow.
As we close out the week, want to point you to this week’s issue of Your Corona Chronicles. We are reminded of the importance of having a plan to stay healthy while you travel home for the holidays, and to do all you can to help us move back to Yellow status.
