I’m out on PTO today, so this will be brief. Hard to believe it is November already – and Election Day at that. On the one hand, 2020 has seemed to drag on forever, and on the other it feels like a blur. Just a few short weeks and your students will be finishing the semester at home. Let’s stay safe and finish strong. The dashboard is looking really good compared to a week or two ago.

A Daily Deac reader had asked me if it would be possible to give a sense of what our students’ experience with COVID-19 has been like: do they have symptoms or not? How have they fared? etc. My colleagues in the Student Health Service described the overall picture as follows: “Most of our students who contracted COVID end up developing symptoms; it is not typical for them to be completely symptom-free. They normally have mild to moderate symptoms, such as cough, fever, congestion, and feel bad in the same way you would with influenza. There have been students with more severe cases, which has included going to the hospital for assessment. While some may see portrayals in the news that young people do not get sick from COVID, they actually do, and we are seeing that among our population.” Hope that provides some perspective.

Finally, the leaves are about at their peak, and falling fast. Here are some shots from the last week or so in Ken Bennett’s photo archive that I hope you will enjoy.
