Last night the gremlins were back in our push service and the Daily Deac went out late. I am bumping it earlier today to make sure I have a couple of opportunities to get it out if the first attempt fails. Thanks as always for your patience with the technical difficulties.
We’ve reached the midpoint of the week, friends. It’s sunny and warmer (nearly 80) and I am grateful to be living in a place that has such good weather. Having the option to be outdoors during this pandemic has been everything.
Yesterday an email regarding SneezSafe usage was sent to students who have missed submitting SneezSafe surveys, making them out of compliance with our COVID policies. Parents and families, please ask your students if they are using SneezSafe daily as required. If they are not, please stress to your students the importance of SneezSafe daily self-reporting. Regular symptom tracking has a huge impact on the potential for COVID to be curbed in our community. Watch this brief video to see a visual representation of why this is such an important component to the health of our student body.
Our Asymptomatic dashboard was updated today with results of last week’s testing. The news continues to be good: no new asymptomatic positives. If you have been wondering what our testing setup is like, we have tents up outside Palmer and Piccolo, across from the law school. Students come in, stay socially distanced, get their nasal swab and go.
Tomorrow at 5pm (Thursday, October 8th), Dr. Hannah Walker (Assistant Professor, UT Austin) will discuss her award-winning book, Mobilized by Injustice: Criminal Justice contact, Political Participation and Race. Professor Kami Chavis will moderate a Q & A session following Walker’s presentation. Interested students can learn more here.
Most of our Deacs are not early birds, but Ken Bennett caught a couple of them out early yesterday. Campus is pretty all the time, but there’s something about early morning that makes it seem especially beautiful.
