Despite the sunny day, today feels very somber. Hurricane Laura just slammed into Louisiana (home of Mr. Daily Deac) and I know is wreaking havoc there, as well as in parts of Texas and Arkansas, and maybe bits of Mississippi too. For all our Deac families in Laura’s path, please know your Wake Forest family is thinking of you. And to all those in the Daily Deacdom that can spare some P&PT (prayers and positive thoughts) for any impacted families, I know they would be welcome.

For our students who come from those areas and who may need emotional support right now, please know that the University Counseling Center and the Chaplain’s office are there as resources. They have amazing staff members on their teams who are grounded in compassion, empathy, and loving-kindness.

Today is the first day of Tuesday-Thursday classes for our students, so your Deacs will be seeing the syllabus for those classes for the first time. Here are a few pics from our Ken Bennett of what your students are seeing on campus.
