Hard to believe that this is the last week in July and in just a few short weeks we will be welcoming our Deacs back to campus. I’ve got several items of emerging news, so here goes:

The town hall meeting for P’24s and ’24s was last night. You can rewatch it here. We will be posting the Q&A from the chat as soon as we can edit (we need to take out individuals’ names for privacy).

A couple of items came out of the meeting that you may want to know about:

We have reconsidered our position on COVID testing and will be asking students to have a COVID test before coming to campus. We will also ask students to self-quarantine for a time prior to the return of campus.

We are working out the details of the testing and self-quarantine process and will be communicating those processes as soon as possible.  Please do not rush out and attempt to obtain a test from a local provider. The timing of the test and the consistency of the data will be important. We will provide instructions on testing in the coming days and appreciate your patience.

As a reminder, the town hall for P’21-’23s and your students will be this Wednesday at 7 pm. There is no pre-registration required; you can view the town hall at this link.

We have almost finished our virtual Parent and Family Orientation sessions and expect to release those to our P’24s this week. All of them are on YouTube and you will have the option to toggle on closed-captioning should you need it.

Finally, I found this video of Kyle Blackburn (’21), which gives a taste of the return to campus and how students will adjust to the challenges of COVID-19.

All, I know that you are eager for the final details for the various parts of fall reopening. Many of the projects and processes we are finishing up are complex and take time. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will continue to bring those details as quickly as we have them.
